Yorktown Elementary

Yorktown Elementary is situated in downtown Yorktown, Indiana right off IN-32 (about 10 minutes outside of Muncie). Our commercial division tackled designing and installing an updated play structure just East of the school.

The structure provides the perfect backdrop to the stadium. This structure features 4 slides (spiral & triple twister slide), a curved erector rock climber, observation deck, 360 degree horizontal ladder, slider & disc traverse, tic-tac-toe panel, and many climbing devices. Accompanying the main structure is an 8-person swing frame. This structure is rated for children 5-12 years of age.

Working with Travis Goebel and Recreational Unlimited was a fantastic experience for Yorktown Elementary School. Travis listened to the needs and wants of the students and created an engaging and age appropriate play area for our 3rd-5th grade students. He was aware that the playground would need to be purchased in two phases due to funding and designed the area for easy equipment additions. Overall, the design and installation process was stress-free and fun for Yorktown Elementary students. The students LOVE their new playground!

This project incorporated engineered wood fibre safety surfacing, which is non-toxic, has no contaminants, or heavy metals. It’s probably the most common playground surfacing solution. The surfacing is contained with functional border timbers that help keep the wood fiber mulch in place during heavy traffic. They also provide a nice border for the play area.
